Underwater Spooks...

Just in time for Nemo in 3-d...I finally scrapbooked some of the boys Nemo/Squirt pictures from Halloween several years ago.  I was excited to scrapbook these pictures for Nicholas (Gabriel's are to come soon).  He loved looking at them with me!  I used the new Moonlight Paper collection, Moonlight Colored Dimensional Elements, the new pigment ink pads to paint the Seaside Wooden Shapes (now retired)  in Halloween colors, Glamour Glitter Alphabet, Black and Grey Sparkle Assortment,  and our new Black Tulle Ribbon.  To see the layouts larger, click on the layouts.

Pear and a Partridge Cousins Layout

If I wasn't totally biased, I would say that I am not sure what is cuter the adorable munchkins or

Close To My Heart's new Christmas paper Pear and A Partridge but since the munchkins are mine, and my niece, I would have to say they take the prize.  The paper is a close second though.  lol. 

 

I have started a Christmas tradition with my children where I give them a new pair of Christmas jammies each year for Christmas Eve.  When my niece was born, I couldn't help but include her in the tradition.  And they were all so cute together.  Our "photo shoot" consisted of about 75-100 shots because when they are this little, you just keep shooting.  I finished with one adorable one, and lots of almost perfect ones...but when creating my layout, I wanted to add some of these more candid shots as well so I clustered them together on the right side.  To me it gives a better view of the moment and the children's personalities and their relationships together.

Re: the littlest (and cutest) Family Member

No, I promise, I did not have the "secret-color-code-to Close To My Heart's future paper packs" in advance although some of my friends might challenge that! lol. Abby's little dress matches the Avonlea Teal, Avonlea Green and Avonlea White almost exactly...as if the papers were made to match her little dress! It is oh so fashion forward let me tell you! And the pictures of her next to the rocks...well, then we can add in Slate and Whisper! L-O-V-E it!

Colors aside, for this layout, I used the Avonlea paper pack, Avonlea Canvas shapes, the beautiful exclusive ribbon from the Avonlea Card Workshop On the Go Kit, Chocolate All-Out Adventure Rub-ons (now retired) and 4" x 6" Flip Flaps.

For this layout, I added a little "tweak" to the flips flops that I have not tried before. I adhered the ribbon to the back of each flip flap with a permanent and see through adhesive, pulled the ribbon to the front, and then tied a bow. This illustrates to the viewer that there is more to see and encourages her/him to open the flap.

Flip Flapping with Veranda

This morning I thought I would share a class I taught on Monday evening at the Scrappers for A Cause Crop.  The class focused on using the assorted 12" flip flaps as well as combining the 4" x 6" and the 6" x 6" flips on a layout.  The supplies used were:  Level One Veranda Paper Packs (now retired), Veranda Level 2 My Stickease (now retired), flip flaps, paper flowers (now retired), and the Mocha Opaque Pearls.  If you missed out on this class and would like a kit with color pictures and full directions, simply send me an e-mail at: inallsassiness@gmail.com.  The kits are $15.00 and I do have two kits left from class.

As the previously sold Level 1 kits were designed to create two layouts, there were many supplies left over after completing the featured layout.  The layout below is what I created with the additional materials (note that this layout was not apart of the class).  When I created the first layout, I decided that I wanted to do a second layout of just Abby and her teacher, Mrs. Snyder as she was such an important part of Abby's first year of school.  In addition, how could I not dedicate an entire page to the picture on the left?  I love this picture...it warms my heart and illustrates Abby's journaling perfectly.  Here is our combined journaling:

"Abby’s beloved preschool teacher, Mrs. Snyder: her “at-school Mommy “as she adoringly called her, has been the most awesome blessing to our family.  As a Mom, I can’t imagine another person whom I would choose to better fit the title of Abby’s “at-school Mommy” than Mrs. Snyder.  Our family was honored to have her as Gabriel’s teacher before Abigail and we all adored her.   And with that role, Abby loved her even before she was granted enrollment into Mrs. Snyder’s preschool class!  Mrs. Snyder put my heart at ease that my little girl, my baby, was in her safe care and for that I am forever grateful.  She used her creative talents and sparkling personality to educate her class and give them every “extra” that could be discovered.  I felt the best way to describe Mrs. Snyder, would be Abby’s own thoughts, so I asked her what she liked most about her preschool teacher.  This is what she replied and mind you, her face lit up as she exclaimed her thoughts and then she made sure I had written down each thought!

“Mrs. Snyder is the bestest teacher I had.  I love her.  She is my bestest friend ever.  She loves me.  She loves telling stories to me.  She takes care of my boo-boos.  And when I am sad.  She helps my friends when they are hurt.  I know she misses me and I miss her so much.  THIS----------------MUCH!” ".

Layout Design is Triple Play - Three is the Charm

Two of the four single page layout designs I have used previously in my challenge however the other two (Triple Play - Three is a Charm and Half and Half - Corner Title), I can now add to my completion list which means:  82 completed and 68 to go.

Studio J Homework Complete!

I have done what felt like a marathon of Studio J the past 48 hours--trying to finish my Studio J "Homework" before the deadline.  Let me explain:  Close To My Heart's Convention is in just a few weeks and with our convention registration we were given a Studio J 5 pack to complete as "homework"for the event.  The physical layouts will be there in Dallas waiting for us so my guess (and my wish!) is that we will have some type of Studio J workshop while at Convention.  Regardless, our corporate set us the instructions, and the how-to's, for some awesome new techniques and I just couldn't wait to share these with my readers!  And for my local gals and guys, if you like what you see, I will be teaching these as classes throughout the summer--so heads up!  It will be a dynamite workshop for you!

If you haven't tried Studio J, you will LOVE it!  You have so much flexibility--so far beyond traditional scrapbooking!  To illustrate what I mean, I am posting my friend Barb Carrico's (with her permission of course) layouts directly below mine.  We both followed corporates lesson plans, but then tweaked to fit our individual styles and needs.

Layout One:

This is my layout.  I used pinks and greys and stitched pennants.

This is Barb's layout.  She used more neutral colors and was able to use the My Stickease pennants (the colors of the My Stickease can't be changed and they didn't work with my layout).  Barb also added a cute little ribbon/button embellishment in the bottom right corner of her layout.  She also has placed mats around her two larger pictures.

Layout Two:

This time, I used a different starting paper pack all together so our My Stickease are a little different. I used a different shape frame and added brads to the outsides of the frames where Barb's brads are on the insides of the frames. My stitching is up on the White space of the layout while hers is on the ribbon. She also used a really cool My Stickease to make a scalloped border. Her letters are "text" and mine are My Stickease with a shadow text box added behind to get the appearance they are matted. 

Layout Three

For these layouts, you can see that Barb rotated her left side differently than mine.  This worked great to feature a horizontal photo.  We used similar My Stickease--just tweaked a little.  And isn't Copper just absolutely adorable??  Gabe is pretty cute too!  For this layout we tried a new technique of making a layered/folded ribbon then added stitching to the ribbon. 

I have not created this layout yet in my challenge, which takes me to 81 completed and 69 still to go.

Layout Four

For layout four, Barb's differs from mine as she has Background and Texture (patterned paper) where mine are muter prints or cardstock.  We both used the awesome scallop technique which is actually a repeating My Stickease element.  I also love the stitched accents in the upper left and lower right corners of both of our layouts.

Layout Five

For the last layout, Barb made a super cute cupcake table from assorted My Stickease which was pretty amazing.  Cupcakes didn't really work with my layout so I opted to used starfish and sand dollar instead.  We both did the stitching on the small pictures and I choose to extend that to all of

photos---although I just noticed that my stitching is in the sand paper and not the Smoothie in the upper left picture.  I am also missing the first part of my title that was on the left page.  This would be the result of me trying to finish this layout last night after midnight when the deadline was 2am.  This however will be an easy fix and can simply be reprinted.  We both used the double color in the journaling which was my favorite learning point on this layout.

Sassy for Dotty - Paddle boarding style!

This layout is one that was available in my Dotty Open Workshop on Saturday.  I pulled out the shades of Lagoon and Sweet Leaf and went from there.  Water can be challenging to work with at times, so I pulled from the colors of some of the gals swimsuits.  My goal was to have a simple, and "clean" layout so as to not distract from the pictures--many of which were from a distance. 

The layout itself is from when I learned to Stand Up Paddle Board in Hawaii a few months ago.  This was one of the highlights of the trip and my camera reported in as taking over 100 pictures in the few hours we were there.  So, stay tuned in my blog to see the photos of my husband on his first attempt, and of our entire group with Ingo Radamaker.

Sassy for Dotty - day 22 - You're a Star Scientist

For this layout, I used the same color scheme from the Dotty for you paper pack as I did in day 21.  I really love how the two colors compliment each other.  For the stripes, I cut the Sunny Yellow strip off and just used the Sunset and Lagoon stripes.  I added a combination of buttons from the Mini Medleys and Cricut cut the badge.  The layout design is Bits & Pieces from Imagine.  I have not used this design in my challenge to date, which makes 79 layouts completed and 71 still to go.

The journaling reads:  "A fun autumn afternoon playing in the leaves of our front yard tree!  Nicholas and Abby pushed leaves together with their hands until the pile was half their height and then enjoyed every moment of jumping into the piles!  Their play lasted for several hours until the dark forced them inside but not before they used their “scientific studies” to compare leaves – colors, sizes, textures and so forth.  Nicholas even tried his hand at climbing the tree to retrieve some of his comparison leaves.  A very naturist afternoon!"

Sassy For Dotty - Day 21 - Orange u Fun?

A play on words quickly became the title of this "orange" themed layout..."Orange u fun?".  The Sunset and Lagoon polka dot papers from the Dotty for You paper collection coordinated perfectly with my pictures.  It is hard to believe that this little munchkin is getting ready to graduate from Kindergarden now...where does the time go?  One thing for certain, with three children, I am so thankful that I keep a journal of the cute, and sometimes, not so cute, things that they do and say so that when I do go back a few years later to scrapbook the pictures I have the words, like Gabey's little "song" that I quoted in my journaling to help capture the memory completly.

Materials used:  Lagoon and Sunset Mini-Medleys, All Out Adventure Rub-ons (perfect for adding a title to metals), Dotty for You Paper Collection, Sunset and Lagoon Cardstock, and three cute kids!  The Layout design is Simple Contrast from Cherish.  I have not used this design in my challenge, so for My Ultimate Scrapbooking Challenge, that makes 78 layout designs completed and 72 to go. 

The journaling reads:  "

Yes, you are quite the “fun” little boy!  I mentioned to you that we were going to have a fun “orange” lunch on this day, and you made up such the cute little song…

”I fun, I fun, I fun….fun, fun, fun.  I fun, I fun, I fun, with you”. 

You were so proud of your little song; you had to “teach” it to Abby and Nicholas.  And you were right; you were fun at our luncheon.  We had a special orange lunch just because.  Each of you colored your own place mats and we had an entirely kid-friendly, ORANGE lunch…Mac and cheese, cheese doodles, oranges, and of course, orange-drink.  Mommy will remember these spontaneous moments forever.  I love you."

Sassy for Dotty - Day 20

Since I am still up, thought I would go ahead and post one more card that I made this weekend with the Dotty paper collection.  I love the inclusion of the ribbon on this card!  It OH, SO Makes the card!

The card design is Name Plate and is from Wishes.  The finished card size is 8" x 3 1/2".  The wide Sweet Leaf Ribbon was adhered in the "whiter" space of the pattern so that it blends right in.  The flowers are from the Paradise Just Blooms Paper Flowers.  The corduroy button is from the Sunset Mini Medleys.

Sassy For Dotty - Day 19 - Card Club Cards

Tonight I want to share the cards for my Card Club tomorrow night. They are all with the Dotty for You Paper pack (still loving these papers) and the Party Pennants Stamp Set.
