Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...Layout

Hello Darlin'...so Americana, so patriotic, and so absolutely "Darlin'.  This paper suite is perfect for everything summer and or patriotic!

I adored the "sassy, sassy" layout so much that I decided to use the design again to create a layout with Hello Darlin'.  I tweaked the words, added a Flip Flap shaker and there you have it!

Here are a few of the details that make the layout:

The "firework" design was cut with the Hello Darlin' Digital collection.  Although the paper collection is retired, the digital collection is still available.  The "firework" was cut with three colors: Sapphire, Periwinkle and White Daisy.  Following layering with Thin Foam Tape, the White Opal Liquid Pearls were added to the points of the Sapphire tips.

The title was cut out with the Cricut.  Coordinating colored cardstock was adhere to the backside of the Cricut cut overlay followed by the overlay adhered to White Daisy cardstock.  For the "white" word, the space was left empty so that the White Daisy cardstock would show through.

A 3" x 4" vertical flip flap was converted into a shaker for the 3" x 4" vertical photo. The shaker is filled with double sided glitter paper in Sapphire, Scarlet and Periwinkle.

Note also the White Opal Liquid Pearls that are added to the intersections of the plaid paper squares.

Irish Blessings!

The Lucky to Know You is a a fun, and charming stamp set that has the most beautiful of Irish Blessings as one of the stamps.  As soon as I saw this stamp set, I knew I wanted to create something special with it.  With that being said, this technique packed layout evolved!  I designed this for my signature Shamrock Crop that took place in March.  Participants were able to create each technique through the course of the weekend and then put everything they learned all together to create this layout.

Here is the layout complete with photos.  You might note that I opted not to journal on this layout - that is true.  This is the second layout in a set of two layouts of the same event and the journaling is on the other layout.  For those creating this layout, you could add journaling inside one of the flip flaps if desired.

Here are photos of the layout, and the artistic details of the layout without my photos.

Details of hearts/shamrock - these were cut with a retired thin cut and then layered together to create a shamrock.  The stem is created with both Evergreen Glitter paper & Evergreen cs to give it more depth.

Details of flip flap shaker:  the flip flaps are stacked two high.  Both of the top flip flaps have been converted to shaker elements. They are sealed and include glitter circles inside.  How fun is this right? When the flip flap overlaps a photo it creates a fun look.  By stacking the flip flaps, it provides the opportunity to include additional photos.  

The bases were created by scoring and inking White Daisy cs then inking them with the Linen Ink pad and finally random stamping with 2nd and 3rd generation stamping.  Collectively, the result is amazing!  I created a You Tube Video demonstrating how to create the background paper.  Click here to watch the video.

25 Layouts of Christmas 2022 - Layout 2: Celebration of Life

How elegant is this layout design? This was a sketch shared by Close to My Heart and it has been one of my favorites.  I love how it showcases the square photos.  Of course, also, because they are a standard size, flip flaps can be added for additional photos or journaling. 

I created this layout for my daughter.  While it was a sad memory to document, I feel like it was something significant to her and defining moments for her, and wanted to preserve the moments for her in photographs.  She has gone back to these photos time and time again and so I am grateful that I opted to take photos of her quiet time at her grandpa's gravesite from a respectful distance.

The Ocean is Calling...

Tonight I want to share with you a layout that I created for my daughter Abby to capture the colors, and the beauty of the waters in Tahiti.  The papers, and mediums that I chose to use complimented the waters beautifully!

For the word ocean, I wanted to incorporate all of the shades of the ocean waters from our trip to Tahiti.  To do so, I used the thin cuts to cut each letter from different photographs we took while there.  I thought this was a great way to incorporate them.

The remainder of the title was cut from the textured Hope & Kindness cs.

The dot embellishments were created from punching holes in the glitter paper and then adding Liquid Glass to the dots.  When these are allowed to dry overnight, they develop an epoxy finish.

The textures of the Hope & Kindness cs, the glitter papers, and the Creative Basics striped paper blend so beautifully together.

Until I can get pictures of my finished layout with better lighting, here is how my personal layout turned out.  I am in love with the deep textures and mediums of the papers and mixed supplies.  The photos completely do not do them justice.

Every Picture Tells A Story

Today I wanted to share a layout that I created over the weekend for my son Gabriel.  This layout documents an adventure we had in Hawaii where he opted to jump off a waterfall cliff along the Road to Hana.  

The paper, Good Vibes, was a part of the National Scrapbooking Month special back in May, and this sheet, along with the sticker sheet was all I had left of the pack.  I absolutely loved the paper and have been waiting for the perfect way to use it.  Luckily, CTMH brought the paper back last weekend for a flash sale and I was able to secure additional packs which absolutely makes my heart happy so I am sure you will see a few more layouts in the future featuring this fun paper.

I also discovered in creating the layout, that our new Orange and Yellow Dots compliment the paper perfectly.  Although the yellow is our new color Honey Butter and not the Shortbread that is in the paper pack they compliment each other perfectly!  

For this layout, I designed it with the photos on the left page to be horizontal 4" x 6" photos.  I however, opted to use two 3" x 4" vertical photos in the place of the two top layered 4" x 6"'s.  This allowed me to include some action shots in the same space.  As I cropped these photos down to show the jumping action, I cropped out most of the background scenery.  I then opted to allow the other photos to share more of the scenery as it was an absolutely beautiful view.

Here, you can see that I used an extra piece of the patterned paper, along with a secondary title sticker to add additional journaling.

This sticker was adhered on top of the flip flap with Thin Foam Tape for extra pizazz.  

I love how the title turned out using those Orange and Yellow Dots!  The perfect way to jazz up with stickers and show off that UV coating.

Celebrating You "Celebrate" Layout

 This layout was originally designed by Close To My Heart, however I had to add a few of my personal tweaks.  The layout is created with the Celebrating You paper collection which is a new addition to our 2022-2023 Core Idea Book. I love how the squares are patterns that all coordinate and the solid divided squares that are created with the new Square Patterns Thin Cuts.  Such flair right?

This is the new (Z4619) Square Patterns Thin cuts which was used for the solid divided squares.  Oh the possibilities right?  

And here are a few more detail photos:

On the left page, there are two stacked 4" x 4" Flip Flaps.  The lower one allows for additional photos and the top one is adhered shut to create a shaker Flip Flap!  It adds a little pizazz to the layout.

The title is Cricut Cut and included in my kit version, but of course you could use your own title if this one doesn't suit your needs, or your photos.

Black & White Flower Elegance

This layout was created for the Chantilly expo and features the Layered Flowers Thin Cut sets and lots of helpful hands to cut out all of those flowers x 400 sets!  The work, and woman-power aside, the layout turned out absolutely stunning!  I love it!!!  And this Thin Cut set made the layout absolutely beautiful.  The set has so many possibilities to mix and match the flowers and centers.

It is also noteworthy to point out the numerous shaker elements on the layout which add that extra special touch.
