Grinch Dinner

Last week, we decided to have a special Grinch night in our home.  The idea was inspired by a post on Pinterest of "Grinch cookies".  I re-read the book and decided to create the traditionally Who-ville dinner or Rare Roast Beast, Who-pudding and Who-hash.  I made little Cornish hens for the kids who found it funny that they had their very own "Beast" on their plates; corned beef hash and vanilla pudding dyed green.  We made the evening even more of a treat by letting the kids eat on our china.  We went our separate ways for Scouts and Choir, and then returned to a Grinch dessert night and all watched the movie together (even Molly).  I had a fun time planning, and cooking (well...for the most part...minus the two dozen broken eggs on the floor when the tray on my refrigerator fell to the floor) the meal, and the spirits were soaring all night.  I loved seeing the kids tell the story of our dinner to our friends the next night...by their faces, I could tell they enjoyed the night.  Here are the layouts that I did for each child.

30 Studio Js in 30 days

This month Close To My Heart is running a fantastic promotion on their Studio J line.  When you purchase 9 layouts, your tenth layout is free.  So, this has encouraged me to jump back in to creating with Studio J and if you haven't heard the memo, there are now no membership fees!  So, to inspire, I will be posting one Studio J layout each day throughout the month of October.
Click on the layout to see an enlarged version.

30 Studio J's in 30 Days:  Day 1.  This is my first layout.  I used the Sophia paper collection.  One of the fantastic benefits of Studio J is that even if a beloved paper collection is retired, it is still available to create with in Studio J!  This cancels out the need to "hoard" for those "what-if" layouts!  Not to say, that I don't still stock up when I know a paper collection, but now if I find those perfect pictures later, I can still create with my beloved favorites!

Notes of Sophia

Outside cover.

Inside of holder.

I wanted to share a Note Holder that I created for a few upcoming gifts.  The case was just a white, glossy cd case that I added paper and My Stickease to from the Sophia collection.  The glossy finish was the perfect medium to stick the post it notes because they will not tear when repositioned or used.  The finished size is 5 1/2" x  5 1/2".  We are using some of these as teacher gifts.  They were super simple to created and are a unique gift that is sure to be remembered.  These folders came from Scrappin' Sports & More but I am sure they can be found at other craft retailers as well.  I will be posting a few other versions in the coming weeks.

Really, how did they do that?

So, my "How did they do that?" quest continues as I create, and help my customers, create, some of the beautiful layouts that grace the Spring 2011 Idea Book. This layout was no exception! It is a beautiful layout filled with many new (at least to me) techniques and I am celebrating it's beauty now that it is complete! I cannot wait to see my customers share in my excitement! Did you notice that the background is hand stamped?? and in different colors?? Looks tricky doesn't it? It is not & I can show you how! Want to join us for the class? The class is just $10 and will be held on Saturday, May 28th at 9am at the Plains Community Center in Timberville, VA during my Summer Paper Crafting Luau! Can't make it but still want to learn the techniques? If you are local to me, just e-mail me and we can set up your own personal one-on-one class for you, or for you and a few friends. E-mail me at inallsassiness@juno.com to register!

The journaling reads: "Have you ever looked up the word sweet in the dictionary? Surprisingly, I did not find a picture of Abby with her Uncle Mike, or their names listed jointly in the definition, but everything else there defined their relationship ever so perfectly. And the ones that spoke the loudest were “much loved: dear” and “marked by a gentle good humor or kindliness”. They truly have a sweet relationship that I just find endearing. These photographs, from an Easter egg hunt that he went to with the kids, illustrate the love that they share…and how sweet it is! Uncle Mike gave a gentle hand in helping Abby find her eggs…not too quick to show her the location, but a nudge to help her find them herself."

It's all oh, so pink!

All who know me, know that I love the color pink! So, I was quick to fall head over heels in love with our new Sophia paper collection that sports several shades of pink! Partner that with Tina's pink HUGE flamingo (see below) and it was not a hard decision to use this paper collection to scrapbook my recent trip to Navarre, Florida! Of which, if I have not mentioned, is my new Happy Place! These three layouts were created in Studio J--our digital studio program--and I am loving them! There are so many possibilities available. To see the images larger, or read the journaling, simply click on the image.
