Grateful (heart) butterfly layout

There is just something about Monarch butterflies.  They are breathtaking to me.  And sentimental.  When my little Gabriel was in preschool, his teacher taught them about the butterflies. They raised them and then had a butterfly release.  I have one picture of Gabriel with a butterfly on his finger which is still one of my very favorite photos of him when he was little.

When Close to My Heart introduced their Grateful Heart paper suite with the beautiful Monarch butterflies my heart skipped a beat I do believe!  I am in love with the rich, jewel tones and of course the butterflies!  A sister consultant, Andrea Sherman, created a very similar layout that inspired me to create this one.  I made a few changes (because really, when do I not tweak), powered up my Cricut and cut out flower upon flower.  I also decided to add some shimmer -- so if you look very closely, you will see that I used the Clear Shimmer Brush on the wings of the butterflies, and then used the Gold Shimmer Brush on the inside of the flowers in the zip strip (yes, every single one of them) and to add reflections to the centers of the Cricut cut flowers.  But, that wasn't quite enough bling...I then added a cluster of our new Loose Gold Sequins around the flowers and butterflies.  My end result...I absolutely adore!

I actually adored it so much that this was one of the Create and Take projects that I shared at my Holiday Expression Reveal and Bingo event last weekend.  I cannot wait to see how the participants create their version and what photos they decide to add to the layouts!

"You've Got This" card making kit plus bonus!

Today I wanted to share with you 4 cards that I created using the "You've Got This" Card Workshop Your Way Kit.  These were the cards that I taught in my monthly card club.

This card is my very favorite!  I used both our new Fancy Tags and Decorative Tags Thin Cuts to add additional flair to the card.  If you look closely, the scalloped circle was cut with the Fancy tag and then to make the full circle a circle rim, I cut the Basic circle from the inside of the scalloped circle.  For the Thank You tag, I cut the tag out in both White Daisy and Pomegranate.  I then hand cut the White Daisy along the inside of the stitching so that it would "nest" inside the Pomegranate without covering the dainty stitching.  Once adhered together, the combined pieces were popped up with Thin 3-d foam tape.  The Sapphire strip is embossed with the "x" Decorative Border.  The little Fern polka dot pennant is the tag from the Fancy Cut set with the hole covered up.  Fun right?

For this card, I used the design in the Card WYW kit, but tweaked to use different patterns in the Grateful Heart paper pack.  Instead of the Fern Stitched ribbon, I cut the vine border from the Decorative Border set.  

For this card, I created it similar to the original card but added a Sapphire base to add a little more pop of color.  I love the addition.  

This last card was a great way to use every little scrap left!  The design is certainly a keeper for that reason.  It is very simple, and the pennants can be changed and altered to match the scraps you have left over.  I love how the colors are very uni-sex and can be used for a make or female. For myself, if sending to a male I would most likely just take off the flower and still have an awesome card.
