Sassy for Dotty - Paddle boarding style!

This layout is one that was available in my Dotty Open Workshop on Saturday.  I pulled out the shades of Lagoon and Sweet Leaf and went from there.  Water can be challenging to work with at times, so I pulled from the colors of some of the gals swimsuits.  My goal was to have a simple, and "clean" layout so as to not distract from the pictures--many of which were from a distance.

The layout itself is from when I learned to Stand Up Paddle Board in Hawaii a few months ago.  This was one of the highlights of the trip and my camera reported in as taking over 100 pictures in the few hours we were there.  So, stay tuned in my blog to see the photos of my husband on his first attempt, and of our entire group with Ingo Radamaker.

To see enlarged views of the layout, simply click the images and they will open in a larger window.

The layout design is:  Open Forum from Imagine. For my Ultimate Scrapbooking Challenge, this adds one more design, so I have finished 80 layouts and have 70 to go.

Supplies used:  Dotty for You paper pack, Lagoon Exclusive Ink, Dimensional Elements tags, Paradise Bakers Twine, Paradise Just Blooms Flowers, All Out Adventure Rub-ons (White Daisy), Lagoon Mini Medleys, Lagoon Cardstock, Sweet Leaf Cardstock and Color-Ready Irrestibles Lots of Dots.

And who says you can't pick your friends?

I thought this was too cute not to share!  While on the island of Hilo today, we were coming out of the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Farm, I saw two unlikely friends...a peacock and a chicken.  They were having the best time "playing" together.  If you look closely, you will see the chicken behind the peacock.  He blends perfectly in with the terrain and the flowers.  lol.

Old Lahina Luau!

A fascinating evening filled with great friends, fantastic food, great culture and a spectacular show!

Sea Turtles...OH MY AWESOME!

I am so moving to Hawaii...just saying!

We went swimming with Sea Turtles on Saturday morning.  If I saw, or did nothing else during my entire trip to Hawaii, I would go home happy and complete.  These beautiful creatures were just breathtaking (the snorkel certainly made that easy too.  lol).  I have thought about this moment since the possibility of earning Hawaii was announced and for me this one single experience made a year's worth of hard work so entirely worth it.  I am so thankful to have been able to share this with my husband Jay.  I do believe he was as captivated as I was!  I have more pictures coming soon, these are a few that Jay took.  Aloha!

Visiting Pearl Harbor

The oil that is still leaking into the waters.

On Friday afternoon, we went to Pearl Harbor.  It was a very sombering experience.  I am so thankful that we were able to work this into our trip at the last minute.  I would not have wanted to miss this once in a lifetime experience.  I think my Papa would have like this memorial very much but I am glad that I could go to see some of what happened while he was serving his country.

Paddleboarding...with Ingo!

Ingo Radamacher, aka Jax on General Hospital, that is!  More later, but for those who placed bets that I would crash and burn, I didn't fall the first time!  And neither did Jay!

Ingo on the left, and me on the right heading out to sea.

Aloha...from absolute Paradise!

After a VERY long and VERY trying flight ( I have been having some problems with my eyes and I think the dryness of the plane and the lack of sleep just irritated them more), we have arrived in Hawaii and it is breathtaking!  When we stepped off the plane, you could smell the sweetness of the flowers in the air.  There were travel companies all over the place placing beautiful flower leis on new arrivals.  I found myself a little disappointed that we didn't receive one as I guess I was under the impression from what you see on TV that you are met getting off the plane with a lei.  My hubby must have picked up on it, and when we saw a little Hawaiian cart a few minutes later he got one for me.  And, as you would guess, it was pink.  The lei was beautiful and very delicate.  I even got a kiss as he put it on me which a later found was part of the tradition of placing a lei on someone.  How he knew that, I am not sure...or it could have been luck...but after such a trying journey, it made my day completely.  Love you sweetie!
