Nothing makes me happier than the LoveWORKS Journey that I have shared with my children. Our journey has taken us all over the state and helped us to experience so many fabulous things that Virginia has to offer right in our own backyard. We were excited, beyond excited, to learn that the Mimslyn was bringing the traveling LoveWORKS sculpture in for Mother's Day Weekend. The boys practically squealed when they saw it for the first time this afternoon! I hold a crop at the Mimslyn each St.Patrick's Day, so the hotel has quite the special meaning to me, and my family. We couldn't wait to take pictures! And, as you can see, the clouds added such character to our photos - in a week filled with rain, we couldn't have asked for a better afternoon.

Coming back from winter hibernation...
My apologies for being absent so long....life has been busy for us, and I am sure for most of my readers. Once Christmas was upon us, we were super busy and since school started (did it really begin..it certainly seems that with the cold weather and the snow the kids are home more than at school!) I can't seem to catch my breath!
So one of the highlights of our New Year's break (those few days between Christmas and New Year's) was a whirlwind of a trip to Jamestown for my boys--and daughter--but mostly the boys. Nicholas had asked to go to Jamestown for his birthday which was in November and we just couldn't seem to pull it off. We thought we would go during the Christmas season so that they could see how the "Jamestownians" decorated for Christmas. Such fun!
Our whirlwind trip began in Luray, and along the way we visited the New Kent Visitors Center's LOVEworks sculpture then we continued to Williamsburg where we spent the night. We spent New Year's Eve in Jamestown which was a blast. We went from there to Hopewell and Lynchburg for their LOVEworks Sculptures then to spend New Year's Eve with my Grandmother which has become a tradition with our kids.
On New Year's Day we left Crewe and visited Farmville's new LOVEworks sculpture then to DeCards Vineyard in Etlan before finally returning home. It was indeed a whirlwind of a trip but fun nevertheless!

My Christmas Present...
Our family has been searching for LOVEworks sculptures across the state of Virginia over the last year. So, tonight we went to the Gateway To The East Coast - Virginia Welcome Center's LOVEworks! My hopes had been to make it there before dark, but clearly that did not happen and truthfully I am thankful we didn't make it! The sculpture took on an elegant look under the nights, and lights, glow. My children almost always race up the sculptures "claming" the letter of their choice but this time they all wanted to be in the wreath of the "O".

LOVEworks Sculptures.
As many others, my family and I have have made a few New Year Resolutions. We have the typical "get more organized", "spend more quality time together" and so forth; but the resolution that I am the most excited about, as I think I can also speak for my kids and my husband, is our resolution to see the all of Virginia's LOVEworks Sculptures this year. These sculptures are popping up all over Virginia, many with themes of that specific location, and they have intrigued us. We first discovered the LOVEworks when they built one here in Luray at the caverns and then we found a second one in Culpepper and the rest is history. So for New Year's Weekend, we kicked off our family resolution by going to a LOVEworks Sculpture in Manassas were the kids blew their New Year's horns and wore that hats. I hope to share our LOVEwork journey with you here on my blog.
