Maybe it was the icky (on-going) weather? Or the excitement of getting to participate in one of my workshops, but all Nicholas has talked about the last few weeks was taking Mommy's Valeeeentine workshop! He has been making Valentine's at every chance he can! Big ones, little ones, Valentine's with hearts and Valentine pictures. These particular Valentine's are ones that Nicholas and my mom made in my Mom & Me workshop for his friends at preschool. He thought he was hot stuff let me tell you! But the truth be known, I couldn't be prouder! I am honored that it was so exciting for Nicholas to participate and am thankful that he shares my passion for creativity!

Sucker Cover Tutorial

Learn to dress up an everyday sucker for your next special occassion.

These are the little treats Nicholas helped make for his preschool friends for Valentine's Day! He ws so very proud when he walked into school carrying them this afternoon!

To begin, gather the needed supplies. Paper Trimmer with both cutting and scoring blades, Soft Set Eyelet Tool & Mat, Mini Glue Dots, Tulip Exclusive Ink Pad, 2" x 2" Acrylix Block, B&T Paper (from the Perfect Day paper collection), Tulip & Colonial White Cardstock, Heart Sucker, (D1194) All My Love Stamp Set.

1. Begin by cutting the B&T paper to 7 1/4" x 2 1/4". Cut the Tulip Cardstock to 1 3/4" x 2". Cut the Colonial White Cardstock to 1 1/2" x 1 3/4" .

2. Next, ink the heart stamp of choice with Tulip Exclusive ink and stamp onto the Colonial White Cardstock. Add sentiment "Be Mine" if desired.

3. Next, using the backside of the B&T paper, score the paper at the following measurements:

2 1/2", 3", 5 3/4" and 6 1/4". Fold the paper at the score lines.

4. Using the Soft Set Eyelet tool and the setting mat,
punch a hole in the center of the 5 3/4" score line.

5. Adhere the stamped heart piece to the Tulip mat and then adhere both pieces to the front of the sucker cover. This is in the middle section. Press firmly to secure.

6. Place a Mini Glue Dot on the back of the sucker and then weave the stick thru the hole. Once the sucker is in the desired spot, press the sucker lightly to the back of the cover so that the Mini Glue dot attaches.

7. Apply three-five Mini Glue Dots to the bottom of the flap of the cover.

8. Fold the cover over so that it meets the front. Press firmly over where the glue dots are positioned so that the flap creates a seal.

The project is complete.

Valentine's with Sass!

Sass and style that is! Valentine's is the perfect day to shower those you love with handmade cards...and not just any handmade cards, but one's that are special, have style, and of course, a little bit of sass! And that is just what makes this Valentine card special! It is a tri-fold card, with lots of little spaces to fill with details...embellishments, notes, or whatever you would like.

This card style is quite fun to create! You can re-create it again, and again...each time just a little different! Want to learn to create your own Tri-fold Card? I am starting a new card club in February and this will be taught in the first class. Take one class, or all twelve...the choice is yours! The card club will get together the first Wednesday of each month. It will be an open format, so you can stop in anytime between 5PM and 8:30PM. The techniques, occasions, and themes will vary. Cost will be $10 per workshop. Take 4 of the workshops and your 5th one is 1/2 off. Location: At the Hill's in Broadway. Need directions, just e-mail me. For the first workshop, you will receive 1/2 of a Level 2 Perfect Day Paper Pack, 5 envelopes, and coordinating embellishments to choose from. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided.

Mom & Me Valentine Workshop

Ever since I was little girl, I have loved Valentine's Day! Call me a hopeless romantic I guess! My dad always made me special with Valentine's for my mom and I and of course, I loved it! Now, one of my favorite parts of Valentine's Day is making Valentine's with my children. Last year, Nicholas and I worked for hours and hours making his Valentine's just perfect for all of his friends at preschool...such wonderful memories made together. I know there are fun Valentine's out there with every character out there, but he was SO PROUD to drop off the Valentine's that he made! So, from this I came up with the inspiration to teach a Valentine workshop that kids could take with their moms. Kids meaning 4 years to 40 years! It is perfect for tweens, teens, or even adult kids! Or you can even take the workshop with a girlfriend! We will make twelve cards--4 each of three designs and each couple will be able to take home their very own stamp set and 2x2" acrylix block so they can continue to create at home! The workshop will be Saturday, January 30th at the Timberville Church of the Brethren from 9:30-12:30. For more details, click here.
