Introducing our new gnome!!

 Those braids right?  That nose?  The complete cuteness!!  LOVE her!! To pieces!

I introduce to you our new (CC72327) Gnomes for Autumn Thin Cuts!  She is available during the months of August and September, or while supplies last.

So, because I just couldn't help myself, I had to use her right away in a layout, and then loved the layout so much that I made two more variations.  Oh, the possibilities!

The first is with my all time favorite Daisy, Daisy!  For this layout, I kept the base of the sunflower for stability, and then I added the Daisies from the Daisy, Daisy Thin Cuts to the top of the sunflower.  I then added two additional daisies to the left page to carry the eyes across the layout.

The title was cut out of Black cs and was popped up with Thin Foam Tape which I believe truly makes it pop!

Here is one of the accent daisies.  I built each of the daisies with a different order so there would be more character.  Each included Ballerina Glitter Paper, White Daisy cs, Ballerina cs and Flamingo cs.

The second variation was created with our new Gnomes for Autumn Collection.  This is the collection that the gnome Thin Cut was designed for strutting her sunflower happiness.  For this collection, I paired the sunflower on the gnome Thin Cut with the sunflower stamp and thin cut from the Gnomes for Autumn Scrapbooking stamp & Thin Cuts to create a more 3-d effect.  This is done with the sunflower that the gnome is holding along with the accent sunflowers on the left page.

Layered sunflower details:  notice how the back cut is layered and then offset slightly - this really adds to flower!  I love it!

The third variation was created with the Hello Darlin' collection.  This was a patriotic themed collection that was available in the spring.  Instead of incorporating the firework parts of the paper, I chose to feature the rose part of the collection.

This little gnome for this version, I have named Karen - with the namesake of my mentor at Ohio State University.  She has the most beautiful long white hair and I always loved it when she wore it in braids!

Namesake aside, for Karen, I trimmed the sunflower down, but keep it for stability.  I then cut the rose from Close To My Heart's Hello Darlin' Digital collection and adhered it to the base of the sunflower.  I love how, like the daisy, it completely changed the look of her.

The title is actually double cut, and overlayed.  The bottom cut is from Scarlet and the top is Sapphire.  This allows a very slight margin (if desired) to show, almost like a shadow, so that the words pop a little more.

Peter Cottontail has nothing our our Easter Gnomes!

 So in love with our newest addition to our gnome collection: the Easter Gnomes!  They are absolutely adorable.  Pair them with Daisy, Daisy, and oh my sassiness!!!

So with that being said, I would like to introduce my newest class kit which includes a VIRTUAL class where I teach you all of the techniques incorporated in this layout: and there are so MANY!

I created a coloring chart for the colors that I used to color my gnomes.  I am not very good at blending, so I colored them directly.  You, of course, could use any colors that you wanted however these are the ones that I felt best complimented Daisy, Daisy.  

In this layout, I used a technique to create your own woodgrain paper by Tawnya Roberts.  My inking color of choice was Linen which gives a subtle inked look without overpowering the paper.  

I also used a mosaic technique with acetate shared by Laura Beacham and incorporated those strips as accent strips on both pages of the layout.  These will be pre-done for you in the kits, however during the class, I will teach how to create them step-by-step.

I used three of the gnomes from our Easter Gnome stamp & Thin Cut set.  The shimmer brushes added such fun and shimmer to each of these!

Class/kit details:  I will be teaching this as a virtual class on May 13th at 2PM. Everyone who orders the kit will be invited to the Layout specific Facebook Group where the class will be taught and will have access to watch the replay. All of the pieces are pre-cut & pre-stamped for you and the bases are pre-scored. In the class, we will ink the scored bases to give them a woodgrain feel. I used Linen Exclusive Ink - you can use this or another ink color of your choice. The gnomes can be colored as desired, or you can use the colors that I used. Additional supplies needed are Ballerina Liquid Pearls. These can all be added to your kit in the drop down menu when ordering if you are in need of them. I can't wait to share this class with you!

Watermelon Gnomies Slimline Cards

Looking for absolute cuteness???  Then look no further!  Close To My Heart's new Chillin' With My Gnomies stamp set is just that!!  Today, I want to feature the watermelon gnomie.  He is stinkin' cute (at least in my opinion!)  And because of his simple lines, he is easy to manipulate and use the piecing technique with - which I love!

When designing these cards, I wanted to use the Smoothie cs but quickly found that I didn't have a marker that was close in color to our Smoothie.  So, easy win...I stamped the gnomie on Smoothie cs and cut out the center of the watermelon out with my non-stick scissors and then pieced it into my watermelon.  I then used the same technique to stamp, and paper piece his little hat.

The slimline overlays were from Close To My Heart's Artbooking Cricut Collection, were manipulated, and resized in Cricut Design space.  There are a multitude of possibilities in this collection that are perfect for Slimlines with just a little tlc!

All three of these Slimline cards are a create and take that I designed for the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo Red, White and Blue event and my be purchased my shop.  Here are detailed photos of the cards.

Sassy January Layout Series #24:  Gnome Love Layout

Layout #24 celebrates everything gnomie!  I have fallen in love with these cute little guys this last year so I wanted to share a layout that was created with our original "gnome" stamp set: Gnome Matters.  This set does come as a stand alone stamp set, but it is so worth adding the Thin Cut set if you have the ability to cut them.  

Here are the details of one of the little gnomes and of the intricate Thin Cuts. 

I incorporated the Thin Cuts that pair with the Shaker cards.  I love this stitched rim!  It just blends perfectly with any, and every, project!  To make this circle even more perfect, I traced the stitched details with the Clear Shimmer Brush.  While it does pick up on the camera very well, it indeed pops!  It is then popped up with the Foam Rim from the Shaker elements with makes popping up the circle so quick and easy!

Although not included in the kit, the Clear, Wisteria, Julep and Charcoal Shimmer Brushes were used to color the pieces and accent the layout.

Advent & Countdown Calendars

Close To My Heart introduced a new Thin Cut at the beginning of September and I just couldn't wait to use it to create an Advent Calendar!  This calendar is created with the Comfort and Joy paper collection along with our beautiful Scarlet Glitter paper - the two pair beautifully together!  

The finished calendar is showcased in an 8 1/2" x 11" Black frame with the glass taken out so that the doors can be easily accessed.  

I used a layer of acetate to protect the little elements behind the doors so that the calendar could be used year after year.

Accents of Gold Foil paper are found in the stickers that complement the paper, so I included small pieces of Gold Foil under a few of the windows.  I used the Black dots from the Black and White Dots embellishment set - they were glued down with the Tombow Glue to add an extra layer of adhesion.

Serenity Gnome Card

In spite of the craziness in this world all around us, there is still cuteness to be found!  Have you noticed that Gnomes are everywhere and so on trend right now?  Close To My Heart has kept up with this trend and has now given us FOUR gnome sets each as equally adorable as the last one.  Today, I am featuring the Garden Gnome Set (paired with the coordinating Thin Cuts) and showing how it can be used with our new Serenity paper collection.

Rarely will you find me using shades of deep blues, deep yellows and gold during football season (they remind me too much of that team up north - and after all I am a Buckeye) but I could not resist with this collection.  They are just so beautiful.

To create the back ground of the card, I trimmed down a Serenity Picture My Life Card, centered and adhered it to a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Sapphire cs.  I used the zip strip from the paper collection as an accent piece to help ground the gnome.  Next, I stamped his little ax with Sapphire Exclusive ink on a scrap of the background paper.  Then I stamped the sentiment on a piece of scrap White Daisy and made the ax into a little sign post. This is adhere to the left lower side of the card.

For my little gnome, I Thin Cut out him out of the White Daisy cs.  I then stamped him with our Intense Black Exclusive Ink Pad and colored him with the Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Markers Gold Brown, True Blue Shades, Fair Skin Blends and added Black for his shoes.  He is then popped up with Thin Foam Tape to my card.

Once the card front was complete, I used the Gold Shimmer Brush to gently add a dot of Gold to each of the golden dots in the PML card and allowed to dry.  Finally, as a finishing touch, I added three of the Blue Belle Glitter gems around the post of the sign.
