30 Days of Thanksgiving - Day 9

Day 9 – I am thankful for my kind hearted and sweet little boy Nicholas.  Nicholas was such my little miracle baby and has blessed my life endlessly.  I love his passion for learning (for after all, he wants to be a scientist!), his gentle heart, his compassion for others and his quirky desire for perfection.  He is such a joy!

A look back...

Goodness Nicholas has grown up fast! It seems like just yesterday Nicholas was spending his first night in his big boy bed and now in just two days, he will be 6 years old! He, by the way, has reminded me of the countdown everyday for the past 10 days or so! It was heartwarming to go back and scrapbook these pictures.
When creating this layout, I used Cardstock and then just a little bit more! I had a little bit of difficulty with this particular layout in that the colors on Nicholas' bedding was so vibrant that whatever patterned paper I choose seemed to fight the colors and pictures. I chose to use a layout from Studio J featuring the Animal Cookie paper collection and then used the monochromatic side of the paper. Next, I substituted a color of cardstock for the second patterned paper. The letters were done with the My Stickease which added to the simplicity to the design.

Grandmommy's Photo Shoot!

When creating this layout, I wanted to use some of the pictures that captured Gabriel's expressions as my mom was able to capture many of these in her little private photo shoot (yes, my kids frequently look like they are being followed by the paparazzi!--but with a Grandmommy and mom who love photography and scrapbooking, guess they can't hide too far!). I chose to only use one pattern of the patterned paper so that the focal point would stay on the beautiful pictures and not be distracted with the business of the papers.

The little details...You Make My Heart Sing!

Okay, quirky, but true! The little details are what makes this layout and make it work. That, and the cute smiling faces! Inspired by Close To My Heart's Animal Cookie Workshop To Go How-To Program, I created this fun page about my two youngest children's relationship together. The title stickers "Wild Thing...You Make My Heart Sing" from the My Stickease was perfect for these pictures! To create the accent flowers, I used the masking stamping technique with the Sweet Baby Stamp set. Craft buttons adorn the right side of the layout to give it a 3-d look. Supplies used: Dutch Blue, Sunflower, Clover Meadow, and Tulip Exclusive Inks, White Daisy Ric-Rac, Craft Buttons, Animal Cookie Paper Collection & My Stickease.
The journaling reads: "Wild Thing...you make my heart sing! That phrase fits these two silly monsters to a tee! Abby & Gabey have such an awesome relationship! They just adore each other and are each so compassionate to the other! Gabey's world revolves around Abby, as hers him! Best friends for sure! These pictures were taken on Abby's 2nd birthday while Gabey was singing Happy Birthday for at least the millionth time!! And of course, she just ate it up! I love watching the two interact together...it makes my heart sing! I hope they keep this special relationship as they up together! June 2009.
