Live Out Loud and in Color!

Spring and summer are hopefully knocking at our doors!  So, I thought I would share this bright and cheerful layout featuring our now-retired Dream Pop papers which added delight just by looking at them!  LOVE the bright colors!  And because of the fun summery colors, my title for this layout was "Live out loud and in color" a fun Artbooking phrase that just begged to be incorporated in this layout!  I added a few of the Color Ready Trinket Wooden Shapes (stars) up in the right corner as well as a few Clear Sparkles to balance out the title and give it somewhat of a cascading effect.  I then used the Silver Shimmer Trim to accent the layout --just a small piece here and there to add a little "bling".  I have to say, I was quite delighted with how the layout turned out -- standing up to it's title being full of color!  To see larger images of the layout, simply click on the layout and the photos will open in a new window.

Tween Dream Pop Layout

Introducing a new Tween/kids class that I just couldn't wait to share!  

The class, Good-bye Summer! will be Sunday, August 25th from 1:30-3:30 at the Plains Community Center in Timberville.  The cost is $5.

This will be such a great chance to spend an afternoon with your child or tween before they head back to school.

Create a layout remembering "10 Things I love..."...could be in general or what you were summer lovin' this summer.  This bright colored layout will help you remember the moments that were/are special.

All pieces are pre-cut to maximize creating time.  Supplies needed:  adhesive of choice and 3-d foam tape.  Adding photos and journaling at the class is optional.

Exclusive Good-bye Summer Kits are available to adults as well!  Would be a great layout to add to a siblings/grandchild's book! Or, I will have additional "quick" hassle free layouts that adults can work on while their child/tween creates their layouts.  Additional kits will vary in price.

Close To My Heart's Album Contest - Entry 3

This morning, I wanted to continue to share Convention Album Contest entries.  This is my third entry and this layout was the most sentimental layout for me.  The layout was created with the Dream Pop! paper collection which is indeed bright and cheerful.  I created the layout to tell my family's story of a Race for the Cure walk that we participated in a few months ago.  The walk was very meaningful for myself and for my family and I wanted to relay the fun and high spirit of the day but also the more personal moments and to find a balance between the two.  To do so, I used the bright and cheerful papers, lots of pink and lots of bling--these captured the spirit of the day. For my title and subtitles I wanted to state my title very boldly but then my support words more underlying because I wanted to represent the hope that I have.  To achieve this, the mail title is on a grey background with a supporting sparkle flourish to accentuate it.  The support words/subtitles are over the pattern paper so they "blend" in with the story.  My favorite element is the Breast Cancer ribbon which I believe, in all of it's pinkness, becomes the focal point of the layout.  To create the ribbon, I hand cut the ribbon which was the shape of the Susan G. Komen ribbon, and I added the Glitter Gems ONE-BY-ONE.  Yes, that is a great deal of bling.  But worth every single gem.  Other elements were all enhanced with bling--center of flowers, flowers filled with flourishes and so forth.  

For my personal elements, I let the photographs and the journaling to do this for me.  My journaling is on the right page on the underside of the flip flap. The journaling was very personal for me to write and share, but I wanted the observer to witness the touching photos, and our story, before reading my words.  I felt this gave the observer, or my children in the future, to understand the essence of the day.

"So much pinkness!  And Abby and I loved every minute of it!  Quickly the boys who were hesitant at the idea of wearing pink shirts were also in the moment and loving be surrounded by all the pinkness!  As Abigail proclaimed, the day was Pinkalicious! 

 Our family shared a morning walking  in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in downtown Richmond and what started as a day for a cause that we truly believe in, became extremely personal when my aunt was diagnosed with Breast Cancer a few weeks before.  I was overtaken by her diagnosis and felt indeed helpless.  This Race for the Cure was something that my family could do. Her need for care and her strength inspired each of us. My children each wrote their own “love signs” for their Aunt Mary Ann and wore them proudly. And we walked with pride.  In love.  In honor.  And most importantly, in HOPE.  Hope for success.  For treatments to work.  For remission.  For a cure.  And  for Life. "

Kindergarten Graduation - fun all around

 My youngest, Abby, completed Kindergarten this afternoon.  She was blessed with both a fantastic teacher, and a very small class this year.  The teacher complimented the class numerous times about how special they were.  Mommy, too, fell in love with many of her classmates as the several had been in preschool with Abby, and the small class size allowed me to spend more time in the classroom.  The students were all very spirited and I wanted something fun and spirited to match their personalities for a little graduation gift!  I found these adorable totes at Michael's for $1.00 (plus had a 20% off coupon) and had been collecting little things, when I found a good price, all year to fill them with!  Each item, was a summer necessity:  bubbles, mini-play dough, a little Lego kit, sidewalk chalk and bright summery suckers. I wrote each child's name on their tote with a Silver Sharpie and together, Abby and I made and stamped tags for the totes with the equally summer color inspired paper Dream Pop.  We then created a stamp cluster with the A1139 Congrats Graduate (LOVE THIS STAMP SET--it is for sure a must have!) and stamped the cluster with Z2105 Black Exclusive Ink.  We cut the tag twice with the Artiste' Cricut Cartridge and popped the stamped pink piece up on 3-d foam. Abby signed each tag herself.

Summer Scrappin' with Dream Pop

At least in this part of the state, summer has come early!  I think we missed spring and went straight to summer!  I have working the past week on designing a Dream Pop Album workshop for my customers that I will be teaching over the course of the summer!  With the bright colors, we will all be Summer Scrappin' and Summer Lovin' all summer long.

The Dream Pop Summer Lovin' Album workshop will be a series of 5 workshops during June, July and August.  In each workshop we will create 2 two-page layouts.  All needed supplies will be included in the workshop kit as well as colored instructions that will be sent in the form of a J-Peg.  The total workshop cost is $84 and includes all of the materials needed for the class, a Legacy Album with 10 additional page protectors.  The workshop fee may be split into three payments of  $28.00 (one payment each month) if desired.  Kits are also available for long distant customers.  A $5 shipping fee is added if applicable.  For those who are just ordering the kits, kits will be mailed once full payment has been received.

A Milk Carton with a twist!

Not exactly your recycled milk carton from the school cafeteria!  Close To My Heart and Cricut have designed an adorable button on their exclusive Artiste' Cartridge that cuts out, and scores, a milk carton.  Such a cute little box, complete with a spout if desired.  I thought this little box was such a cutie that I made one for each of the Lunch Room Aides at my children's school for an end of the year Thank You.  They could be filled with little cookies, a cupcake, candies or other sweet treats and because you can choose the paper (here, I used the Dream Pop Paper) that you cut the milk carton from, the possibilities are endless.  For mine below, I cut out the pinwheel from the Artiste Cartridge and the added several little sparkles from the Clear Sparkle Assortment to adorn.  From start to finish, the entire carton took just about 1/2 hour to create.

What a pink purse!

This is a cute little purse that was inspired by my friend and up line Tina Sutton.  The "pinkilicious" purse was cut with Close To My Heart's exclusive Artiste' Cricut Cartridge from the National Scrapbooking Month Dream Pop paper pack.  The texture/glazed design on the cardstock pops out adding a great dimensional look and feel to the project.  The pocket is actually that and can hold little treasures!  Embellished with Clear Sparkles and Sparkles Small Flourishes, this little purse is perfect for a party favor or a gift card!

Cute as a cupcake?

Rather, cute enough to hold a cupcake?  With the new Dream Pop paper collection there is no doubt--these boxes are cute enough to gift a cupcake!  Last week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Day and these were the gifts my children took to their teachers!  Because of the flooding here in Luray, we had to hand deliver one but thankfully, the others made it to school the next day.  I was delighted with how wonderful the boxes turned out and how they looked even more beautiful when filled with a gourmet cupcake.  I was even lucky enough to find a Grasshopper cupcake that's icing coordinated with the colors in the box!  Loved it!
