SJLS #3 (Letter Tile) Adventure Layout

Sassy January Layout Series #3

Welcome to the third segment in a series of 31 that will be shared during the month of January.

Creating titles and journaling, when added to a scrapbooking layout, can create a completely different take and personality to the project.  And that is just what is happening with this layout.

Close To My Heart has just introduced a "creative opportunity" with their new Letter Tile Stamp and Thin Cut set and oh the fun you will have while using it!  I, for one, have always been a Scrabble lover!  There is just something about the word game that intrigues my inner game loving heart I guess.  And, I guess because I love Scrabble so much, I love the pieces and using them in artwork.  Years ago, I created word puzzles with the actual wooden tiles for friends and loved ones.  Now, CTMH has made that something we can do on paper!  So thank you CTMH!!!

With the introduction of this stamp, your titles and possibilities are endless! How does it work?  Simple!
1.  First, stamp the wood grain onto the paper.
2.  Using the die cut, cut out the tiles in various spaces of the stamped image so that each piece looks unique.
3.  Stamp the chosen letter into the pieces.
4.  Now the letter is ready to put into your creative play.

I found that the following combination looks the most authentic to the wooden tile:
Paper:  Almond cs - dark side
Ink:  Toffee for the wood grain & Black for the letters

Now, the stamp is also available without the Thin Cuts, but for an additional $2 the Thin Cut is truly a must have!  It allows your pieces to be uniformly and consistently.  Of course, if you don't have a die cutting machine, then order the one without the Thin Cuts - you would then simply use that first stamp in the upper left corner of the stamp to create your tile image and then cut it out free-hand.

The second element in the "personality" or "character" in this journaling or title is the use of stickers and images to create this subway banner feel.  To create this look, I used word stickers from the sticker sheet, and mixed it with the zip strips and a PML journaling card.  These particular stickers have that UV coating that makes their colors pop!  Each was also popped up with Thin Foam Tape to add depth.

Once all is said, done, and created, this is what my final layout looks like with all of the pieces, and pictures, in place. (to see a larger picture, click on the image and it will open in a new window).
