12 Days of Christmas Cricut Layout

Such a whimsical layout for Christmas!  This design was originally a one-page layout design in CTMH's new Cricut Collection Complete Creativity.

To see a larger version of this layout, click the picture and it will open up larger in a new window.

Because most of my customers, and myself, prefer 2 page layouts, I tweaked the layout to covert it to a two-page layout instead.  I was able to separate some of the elements from the one page to the others, such as the song lyrics, and other elements, such as the hearts, I simply duplicated them to the second page.

Here is what the original design looked like:
I also opted to change the colors a little to have a brighter and bold statement verses the more muted colors.  By incorporating the black as the inner base, all of the other colors were able to POP and I love it!

So a few notes to share in regards to this layout:
Song lyrics details - I designed this kit so that a single picture could be in the center of the circle of lyrics, or the lyrics page could be treated as a background paper and multiple photos could be placed over the paper showing blurps of the words.  Instead of cutting a photo mat for the page that is as I used it, I included a full 12" x 12" sheet of Candy Apple cs so you could adapt to the sizes that you desire.

Font of lyrics - This type of font in quite popular currently in the world of paper crafting.  Many choose to omit the insets of the letters (such as the centers of the o or the top inset of the g etc and others choose to re-adhere these on the new project.  Most of the letters did not have an inset to adhere so I went with it.  When pulling this oversized overlay, some of the more intricate letters did separate - I went in and reattached the little humps of the m's and n's but mostly left as it.  If re-attaching any of the letters, I highly recommend using a fine tip glue pen.  The same in true when adhering the entire piece to the base - use the glue pen around the letters etc and then a regular adhesive runner along the outside edges of the overlay.

There are many little pieces, and details, in this layout.  These are overlaid and Thin 3-d Foam Tape is used to add depth within the layers.  For i.e., the bottom layer of the hearts are adhered flat and the top layer is adhered with Thin 3-d Foam tape.  The snowflakes are all adhered flat and have a White Dot in the center of each center for added dimension.

Here, you are a few of the more intricate details - the tag underneath the "25" is two layered so that the Clover shows under the stitching of the Juelp and there is a delicate Candy Apple outline that is adhered around the cluster of photos.

So, now that I have shown this layout that was true to the original design, I wanted to share a personal layout that I created using the same file, but tweaked it to my photos and story.  I used this file to teach a Cricut technique class and each person was given the task of creating a different version of the words to suit their needs.  I was absolutely delighted with how my project turned out!

You will note that I changed the font for the words on the right page - I wanted something more whimsical- it is a Close To My Heart font.  The other significant change that I made was to add a third tier to the pyramid of photos on the left page - this allowed me to add additional photos.  I also changed the second tier's well from two square pictures to a rectangle picture.  The jar was created from a Flower Market image as was the bow, and I purchased the coin image from Cricut.com which just added the perfect finishing touch to my layout.
