My brother Chad has once again created an amazing piece of art! And, has been named a finalist in a National Woodworking Contest sponsered by Fine Woodworking Magazine! How fantastic is that?? This is a contest that is determined by the voters, so if you LOVE this table, I am sure he would love your vote! The other pieces are amazing as well...very impressive entries! There is just one round of votes for this particular contest. Link thru to the contest and or to vote here.
Chad's piece is a Baptisimal Table that he built for a local chuch. His story behind the details of the table: "This table was designed and built to go in front of the sanctuary at a local church. The table is in the shape of a cross with a baptismal bowl in the center. There are 4 inlaid veneer diamonds, at the pastors request, one at the end of each arm of the cross. These represent the wounds of Christ; the hands pierced separately, the feet pierced together and the side pierced. There is also an inlaid ring in the center of the table which holds the baptismal bowl; this ring is to represent the crown of thorns. The top is made of weighty thick planks and is very plain, because the cross can speak for itself; it doesnt need to be dressed up. The intricate framework underneath however was designed to elevate and display the cross as a ring setting displays a diamond, which is something of great value. The two arched interlocking grids underneath give the table its strength and at the same time act as a nice design feature. I stopped the reverse taper legs several inches from the bottom of the table top to give the actual top more of a dominant appearance. "
One very proud sissy!! Love you Chad!!
