Game changer...shimmer watercolor splatter painting!

Thanks to the fabulous Jennifer Smith, a sister Canadian consultant, I have discovered a new, equalling as fabulous technique- splatter painting with a Shimmer Brush and watercolors!  What? right?  Jennifer designed a beautiful album for Operation Smile which I am currently creating and will be teaching as well as offering as kits and in her album she taught me this new technique!  LOVE IT!

So what is this technique?  Using a Clear Shimmer Brush,  pick up a color in the watercolors (for my layout I used a dark grey) with the brush tip.  Gentle tap the shimmer brush in the designated area with your finger and walah! You have a shimmery splattered texture.  In the process of creating my background, I also learned that I could mix a little in a bowl for a lighter, less dramatic look.  I mixed the two on my layout so you will note that some of the splatter is darker and more vibrant than others.

My tip...if you decide you want to try this...do your splattering BEFORE you create the layout!  lol.  I did not.  I wasn't sure I would like it.  Then once I decided to try it I had to worry about splattering where I didn't want to.  My solution was to cover the layout with wax paper then splatter.

So, I have shown you the technique, I want to share the layout.  This is one of my favorites that I have created in a very long time.  I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that my photos are so precious to me!

Here is my version of the layout.  To see it in a larger view, simply click on the photo and it will open in a larger window.  If you note the 4" x 4" photo - this is the top of a flip flap.

Here you can see the 4" x 4" flip flap open.

You can create this layout with me at Scrap Pink in two weeks or at my Fall Harvest Crop the first weekend on October.  It is also available to purchase in my In All Sassiness Designs Shop.
