The monsters have come arrived in Luray...

So bless his heart, Gabriel has been a very patient little boy waiting to celebrate his 7th birthday!  We had been waiting to connect with a buddy with a night that worked for both families.  So on Saturday night he had his buddies over for a Monsters Inc. party --pizza and ice cream cake which were Gabriel's choice.  The house sounded like it was filled with monsters with all the laughter and screams!  But I also promised him a Sully cake for his birthday and he held me to it. So today, was an early release from school and we had grandparents coming over for dinner so I made his cake.  I have thought about this cake since he first requested it with no idea how to make a Sully cake--I am so not a cake artist and the idea of creating a cake with a furry monster without a mold had challenged me.   I finally came up with this cake: a two layer cake complete with Sully's purple spots and the Monster's Doors made of Hershey Chocolate Bars.  I was a little unsure if he would like it but his smile when he walked through the door from school immediately said that he approved!  And Abby proclaimed..."Mommy...your cake would get a ten from Len!"  So, I guess that is good enough for me!  And it tasted pretty yummy too although Mommy went for the door!
